I was having a really hard time adding the shortcut to Netscape6 to the
Desktop.
Normally to start it up I would open a console change directory to
/home/mydir/netscape6/package
and then type
'./netscape' (without the qoutes)
and it would start no problem.

You can set the initial window type in LinuxConf.
At the prompt, just type : #linuxconf.
Select Boot something I forgot.
And in there you can configure to start with X-Windows system (KDE)

If your ehterrnet card is PCMCIA, you will have to load your PC CARD drivers
before the NIC, otherwise you will be forever getting the NIC to work...I am
not sure how to re-arrange the install list but I am sure someone here can
enlighten you...

When you go into your BIOS you should see a listing for PCI/Plug and
Play Setup( the wording and such may be different depending upon who
supplied your BIOS). When you enter PCI Setup the first listing will read
something like Plug and Play Aware OS and it can be set to either yes or no.

i haved the same problem a month ago.. try first to run :
fsck/dev/hda5.. once you ve got into root.. and see if that solve the
problem... i am about to quit mandrake too but because other problems
finally i reinstalled all ... and upgraded my PC but it still doesnt work

check under /var/lock maybe kpp has a .lock file out there somewhere???

Windows appears to have taken a massive poop on me over the weekend, and
since I really haven't booted into it for quite some time now, I think I'm
going to redo my system linux-only.
Here's the question: I have a total of 10.1G HDD space, on 2 4.3
There is a known install bug in Mandrake 7.0, all you should have to do it
grab the updated floppy install image from Mandrake's site's, and use your 7.0
CD and the image from Mandrake.
