To my great disppointment .. I discovered that my computer is equpped with
the dreaded Win Modem that renders my linux installation useless to access
the network. Is there a workaround for this ?? Or do I have to buy a new
modem card for my box.

I am interested in installing Linux on my system but I was told that The
Ultra 66 Controller from Promise Technologies has no supported linux drivers
