i586 takes avantage of instructions that exist on a Pentium class machine, that the
i386 didn't have.
If you have a pentium, you want the i386 (however, AMD K6 II, K6-III and Athlons are
also 586 class
machines).

I've tried to install the 3com 3c905C NIC, and I get a "wrong kernel version", and
I've tried to
download it and compile the thing, and I get all these "include" errors where it can't
find libraries
(or whatever the .h means).
Anyone have a suggestion on where to get drivers for this card, or
