Does your Video card "borrows" RAM from your RAM?
Check your BIOS and your motherboard's manual for this. There are some MB
that "steals" ram in order to let your video card use 1,2,4 or 8 MB of your
ram for it.

You must config your network (it asks you when installing) with the
appropiate settings (ie: ip addres, gateway, etc) and tell your web browser
on which ip your wingate lives. Also you've got to tell your email client

I think it's a Winmodem, those won't work in Linux
