Make sure your zone files all end in linefeeds. (Or is it carriage
returns? I can never remember which OS uses which.) Anyway, hit
return after the last line.
That's the only thing that springs to mind from your description of
the problem.

nslookup's bugs. If you're just looking for DNS data, and aren't
trying to test your machine (or any other DNS server), use host. (I
think that's what it's called, anyway - I never use it.)
