I did a little research, and apparently I can play mp3s on a 486/66 if I'm not
using X11 and using mpg123.
Anyways, you can mount the drive in read only, which I'd be doing anyways as I
keep all my mp3s on cd. If you compile a completely stripped down kernel, you
can get it to boot in 10-15 secon
I have a Pentium 100 sitting around with the worst Mach64 video card I have
ever hear of. It's a 2 meg ATI Mach64 Winboost card, and simply does not
perform decently in linux, because it is a Windows card. It won't go above
16bpp colour and at that it runs at very low resolutions even for my video
486/66 or
100 cut it?
Also does anyone know of a way I can remap the keyboard so the numeric pad can
perform operations. If I can't, I'll use a remote control with LIRC.
