I use a local ISP in the NY City area named asan.com which I dial into by
configuring kppp with
their two DNS numbers and a dial-in phone number. Once the info has been put
into kppp, all I do
is point and click and connect at a consistent 50666k on a 3com external
faxmodem. I think the
principle is that if an ISP has a DNS and dial-up number, you  should be
able to connect
wherever you are since the software in Linux  is so effective. By the way,
if you're in the area
and you choose to use them, tell them I sent you. ;-)
