If I remember correctly, the 3C509B cards can be used as PNP or in ISA
mode. That's the card I've used in many systems. 3Com has a DOS utility
that'll let you specify the IRQ and address and also disable PNP at the same

The only thing I did to get my cable modem working is make sure I had DHCP
set up, I made sure eth0 was where it belonged in the network card settings,
then added my two DNS numbers. I didn't have to edit any files or change
any other settings.
