[newbie] Unable to shutdown ppp connection

Hi, I am able to make the ppp connection as root or as a user, but I am unable to _shutdown_ the ppp connection from either one. Both the command-line or using linuxconf gives the same results, neither will shudown the connection. Kppp on the other hand works just fine. I noticed that the ppp

Hi, I get the following messages on bootup in the /var/log/messages ile: "modprobe: can't locate module char-major-14" and "can't locate module nls_iso8859-1". Can anyone give an idea of what is missing. I'm running Mandrake 6.0. Thanks to all, Mike Norris

I just istalled version 6.0 (previous was 5.0). Now when I start up ppp, using my old 5.1 ppp-on script, the ppp0.pid is placed in /etc/ppp instead of /var/run. Is this the way this is supposed to work in version 6.0, is there a fix for this? The same thing happens when I use linuxconf to make th
