[newbie] how to Reinstall?

Hello... Here is a minor problem i met in mandrake! when using KDE, when i click on a *.tgz file to open it, it does not list the contents of the archive correctly!! instead, it shows some folder names which are not in the archive at all! any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank u... Moh
