Hi,
After running a certain application on my data for 2 hours, my
machine suddenly goes from feeling normal to not reacting to
anything: ctrl-alt-del doesnt work, mouse pointer does not
move, ping returns nothing. I then reran in console mode as

Hi,
I selected all the package categories except "extra documentation",
that is, I did not select individual packages. After configuring
autofs, found no autofs (/usr/sbin/automount not there). Then I
went to the RPMS directory on the CD and did rpm -ivh autofs...rpm
This went fine, showed that

Thats it, thanks .. I did 'unalias ls' and time dropped from 10-15 mins
to 2 seconds. Then I did
no boot, because now
/etc/fstab was gone. I have not tried to reproduce this (pulling
the plug while editing a file isnt fun), and I have not yet applied
the Mandrake updates (kernel and initscripts). Again, has this

Ideas ... ? they are reeely welcome ..

> Hi, Niels,

I crossed off all packages on Mandrake 6.0, except Extra Documentation.
I see the anonymous ftp directories created, and when I connect, the
beroFTP daemon responds, so I think the answer is yes, although beroFTP
is not exactly wu-
work. I also managed to hang this interface, but dont have a
way to reproduce it (will let you know when I do). So, how to let myself
in? are there instructions?
