[newbie] How to avoid Templates and Startup icons on the desktop ?

I use kfm and I want to suppress Templates and Startup icons on my desktop. I tried to delete them, to modify file $KDEDIR/share/config/desktop but they are always back each time I login :=( -- Philippe BdA

sndconfig with no success. Reading the HOWTO, it seems I have to compile a new kernel but I don't know what device to choose... Somebody has such a config ? Any idea ? Does linux 2.2.1 will help ? -- Philippe BOURDEU d'AGUERRE
