144.137.177.45 is my IP address, the others I don't recognise although 144.137.142.49 is probably another ADSL user.

How can he put his machine name in /etc/hosts if he is using dhcp? Can
you give an example of both. I have the same problem but if I have to
put the IP address in /etc/hosts then that defeats the purpose of d

I have installed V7.02 i486 on my old DX2/66 PC. When I try to login as root I get
'incorrect login'. If I login with the user I created during the install and 'su -' I
