[newbie] access denied

Hello, I have to write a file in my Firefox defaults profile folder but I get access denied message. I saved the file in my home folder and tried to move it to the same profile folder and same message. what can I do? Is it a security problem? (I did not setup any special level) Thanks Christophe

Hello, I downloaded the tar file of Firefox and I followed Robin's instructions to install it from a terminal... I don't know how but the software installed itself in my temp folder... I was not able to use the tar -zxvf command... Is it the right place or shall I move it some where else? Thank
