I have a laptop that's is running dhcp since i move around a lot with
it. For the most part everything works fine except for some services.
Notably samba and ftp. From what i can gather is these services are
requiring an ip addy which is not available at the time they are started
from the rc5
I've been using Mandrake 8.1 quite happily for some months with a fixed
local (192.168.123.x) IP address on a home network. I'm connected to
the internet via a dedicated firewall/router attached to my ATT
Broadband cable modem.
Unfortunately, AT&T just switched from DNS servers with fixed IP
, Gateway, DNS, etc.).
