Is there a setting for system wide default browser? In particular, Kontact
uses Konqueror as the browser. I would like it to be Mozilla. I look in
Kontact configure but did not see an appropriate setting. Anybody know how
to change it?

Lanman, did you try looking at KDE, Components, File Associations and seeing
what is listed there for Text, HTML?
Another old trick I use sometimes:
Right click, create a blank HTML file. Name it whatever you want, doesn't
matter.
Now, right click on that file, and pick Edit File Types. From t

Hey Folks.
I'm having an interesting (read that as strange) event happening. Using
KDE's Component Chooser (KDE 3.3.2) I selected Mozilla Firefox as my
default browser.
For the most part, everything is fine. But when I click on a hyperlink
in an email (using Mozilla-Thunderbird which is also se

Is there a way to get Firefox set as my system default browser? I
believe right now, if a program follows a link, it picks up Konqueror
by default.
I don't know if it makes any difference, but I'm using KDE right now,
but am considering switching to Enlightenment... but my friend who
serves as pri
That certainly causes konqueror to open, but I then get an error message:
The file or folder does not exist. However, if I clear the dialog box
and then click on the "Go" button, I am taken to . Shouldn't I be able
to get right through to the URL?

Where do I set the default browswer to use for embeded links for kmail in mdk

Where are you trying to launch from? (ie kmail, directory, etc)
Where are you setting the default? (i have had flaky stickiness of file
ass's in kde, but they seemed to stick better from the kde control center
than right clicking on the file itself. don't know why...)

I always get this in the address along with a message "could not open file".
Is there somethign I need to add when using Opera that will pull up the url
instead of this mess:

i'm still on 2.2.2, you should have this option somewhere though, it's a kde
wide option so it's pretty basic, it may have a slightly differnt name, try
right clicking on an htm/html file in konq and choosing edit file types -
assuming kde 3 has this, this is the dialogue i reach from the route
Which version of kde are you using? I'm using 3.0.3 and I don't see that in
the menu. I have start>configuration>kde but no file browsing within that
menu.

by experimenting i've found that kmail uses the browser that is at the top of
the filetype setting, go to start>configuration>kde>file

close kmail and restart - it did take a while to open mozilla though

This is very strange. Up until this morning when I would click a link in
KMail, Konq would open and show the page. This morning I sit down, click a
link, and up pops Quanta!!! No settings were changed since last night and it
was working fine when I went to bed. Can anyone tell me where
Hi,
I have decided to use Galeon as my default browser. I had no problem
changing preference in Control Centre. However, if I click on an embedded
link in email, most times the page fails to open. Galeon starts up but in the
url location box I see something like
file:///home/bill/.kde

Not too long ago I made some changes to my Mandrake 8.1 desktop and now
have a couple of minor problems with my Galeon browser:
Galeon now wants to be on top all the time and it doesn't respond to any
setting changes to let something else be on top;
I want Galeon to be the default browser when I
