Russ, quick question, do you have an old 486 laying around.. if so you should try IPCOP..its quick and easy. and when your secure in your knowledge about IPTABLES.. you can go and setup your linux box as a firewall.. I have a SOHO setup in my private (home school) here in japan.... 12 boxes, multi platformed everything from M$98 to MDK9.1 and I've had no problems since I started IPCOP.
