This worked for me:
Assuming you have the jdk downloaded and installed, just set a JAVA_HOME
environment variable in your .bashrc file that points to the bin directory
of your jdk:
#for example:
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/src/jdk1.3.1/bin
