Hi, I just tried to install Linux Mandrake 7.1 on my new Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop. The Linux installer froze as it was trying to detect my PCMCIA card (a XIrcom CardBus 56k/10-100Mb). I had on my machine 2 win 98 partitions. Upon rebooting and loading windows, I saw that my D: partition was missing. I went to the Linux Mandrake site to learn that there is a problem with the install cd and it is known to make extended partitions dissapear. The site offers two solutions, 1) to patch the install before installing (too late for me), 2) or fix it running a perl script. Can I use any of these two options, or do I need a third? My partition is missing, but Linux did not fully install to run anything. My main question: Can I restore those files? Should I attempt to reinstall Linux and run the line from there, or will that make it impossible to recover lost files on my D; partition? I greatly appreciate your prompt and thoughtful care. -Paul Rodriguez _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com
