Oops. It sounds like you forgot to run lilo after replacing the vmlinuz file in the /boot directory. I made this mistake a few times myself when I first started compiling my own kernels. As for a repair, the only two methods I am aware of are: 1. Boot with a rescue disk, restore your boot direct

Ok, so I mentioned earlier I had problems with my SB Live! I have Mandrake 6.1 and tried to recompile the kernel to version 2.2.5 (Creative told me their beta drivers worked for only this version). Anyway, the compilation seemed like a success. Then I rebooted, and I got in, but nothing changed
