HELP!
I am attempting to install Open Office Beta 2 m02 on a Mandrake 10.1 system and I have a few questions as I do not understand the installation instructions.
A copy of the installation instruction along with my questions follows.

Hi,
Some of you may of heard of this via other mailing lists, but we need
help raising money for the database section of OpenOffice in version
2.0. This may not be that important for end users, but is a major
function needed for UK schools as most will not leave Microsoft Office
without it. (Micro
I have MDK10.1 on two different systems. They're set up similarly, but not
identically. The X and KDE environments however are the same. OpenOffice
1.1.4 runs fine on both, but I wanted to test 1.9.74 (the current 2.0beta).
On one box it runs fine while on the other it constantly crashes and

at a time, and did a rpmi.update -a --wget && urpmi -v --auto-select

Go to openoffice.org and download the dico installer (it is a OOo file
that spawns this nice installer).
OOo website has mirror sites for all languages available.
Also check out StarOffice if your are educ people (free for us!).

create them. My old files imported from XP are not zipped even if I
modify them.

One of my biggest Linux luxuries is the highlight then middleclick
clipboard thingy.
It doesn't work all the time with oo between apps, although within
oo it seems to be 100%.
Anyone know a fix? Or why I'm having trouble?

I was wanting to upgrade Open Office to 1.1 (I currently have 1.0.2 - on

I dl the tar ball and untarred it. Now I have some questions about the
instillation.

No, but you can use the one from their site. It's not a typical tarball
that you have to compile and install. It's got its own installer

this problem appears whenever you update your QT/XFT/Freetype
libs. OO cannot work properly with the newer versio

Thank you very much for your hint. In fact I had just recently installed
a new version of freetype2. Reinstalling the version from the mandrake 9
disk solved the problem

The same thing happened to me
You are right. Indeed I changed from XFree 3.x to 4.x with 3D
acceleration. On the other hand openoffice seems to be the only programm
which is affected. do yopu know the reason and how to repair it?
