Hello I have just installed Mandrake 10.1 and
everything seems to work perfect but the Sound Card.
The sound card I have is:
Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1
I can get regular CD's to play and I could hear the
music just fine.
When I play movies or mp3's I cannot hear anything.
The volume is all
I'm having problems with my sound card:

I would appreciate if someone could walk me thru the
process of getting this card to give me some sounds!

I think the SBLive ! Value card is different than the card I have - not at
my machine now so I can't get the details. The emu10K1 driver is updated
frequently on the Creative site - you could always save the driver that is
supplied by Mandrake and try the update - if it messes anything up then

At a minimum you most likely need the latest emu10k1 driver - you can
download it from www.opensource.creativelabs.com. Untar the file and follow
the instructions on the Readme to compile and install - I have had to do
that with my SBLive! for both 7.0 and 7.1 .

check out your Mandrake distribution CD if you have on. There's probably a
folder in there with a whole bunch of docs and howto's in it. The Kernel Howto
is pretty good. Of course I'm going by my mandrake 6.0 dist. cd. I'm sure
yours can't be too far off as far as what kinda stuff is on the CD.

Go to opensource.creative.com and download the .tar.gz of the emu10k1
driver source. Extract it, compile it (a plain old make worked fine on my
