Hi, Did you downloaded a file with the extension tar.gz ? The file name should be something like emu10k1-20001013.tar.gz. This is a compressed file that you first have to uncompress. You do that with the command tar xvzf filename.tar.gz this will create a subdirectry called /emu10k1 that has a

I think the SBLive ! Value card is different than the card I have - not at my machine now so I can't get the details. The emu10K1 driver is updated frequently on the Creative site - you could always save the driver that is supplied by Mandrake and try the update - if it messes anything up then

check out your Mandrake distribution CD if you have on. There's probably a folder in there with a whole bunch of docs and howto's in it. The Kernel Howto is pretty good. Of course I'm going by my mandrake 6.0 dist. cd. I'm sure yours can't be too far off as far as what kinda stuff is on the CD.
