I do not have the link handy but do a search for the linux how-to sites
and read the section about setting up scsi cd roms.
I've attached the text that got my writer working though!! Mandrake failed to
setup my
CDROM writter but by following the instructions i got it working fine.

Now the SCSI CD-Rom and CD Writer are not seen by the Lothar HW config
application, and I can't mount them. "may not be a block device" error
