Well another install and the same problem. Lilos' 3 options (linux, linux-fs?,failsafe) all lead to the same thing, linux starts to load then it just restarts. Having made a bootdisk I got a msg to insert the first cd, which led me to rescue. Now the problem is I have no clue to linux, almost none what so ever. So I need a clear explanation on what commands to issue and what fstab? and lilo.conf ?need to be. Sorry to be so unclear, learning this all by myself.
I have lost all on the hard drive, so is there any reason why each install leads to the same problems? **I choses ext3 for my filesystem but after reading todays email I'm leaning towards Raiser Compaq 700Z Laptop 386MB RAM Mandrake 8.1
