Dear friends:
I have a dual-boot LM 8.0/Win98 SE. Thanks to Mandrake, I've been using True
Type fonts in Netscape and Mozilla since LM 7.1.
Question: Is there any way to use these True Type fonts in StarOffice 5.2?
StarOffice's print fonts are fine. They look very good indeed. But its screen
I've seen posts that say you can copy the windows true type fonts over and
activate them for use with Mandrake 7.1 however the posts had broken links
and so I was unable to get to the site where the file had been which allowed
for this. I'm wanting to do this so that Netscape has better legibility

How do I do, if I want to use true type fonts? Is it possible to do the same way as
for redhat? I tried that with Mandrake 6, but it didn´t work (or did I do something
wrong?). Thanks for the help!

I keep seeing these new distributions of Linux coming out and I figured
sooner or later one of them is going to make true type fonts
default. Probably Mandrake. What is the hold up on making good fonts the
default setup so Linux can be easily read.

Hi people, where are the TTFs on Mandrake 6.1? I remember adding them
during install.
The supplied fonts are uninspired or amateurish, ragged-edged, and
half of them don't work. This is on excellent hardware on which NT
works and displays impeccably.
I tried the online help, typed 'true type'
I had to change the permissions on the imported win ttfonts..run mkttfdir
and whala..(none of the dingbat fonts worked however?)

Can I use the Windows 98 TT Fonts on a linux machine, or, do I have to
get some that were "prepared" a different way ?
Thanks !
Sorry, I missed previous messages about fonts.
Can I use windooze (.ttf) fonts? If I can, then how?
I could not find this utility (mkttfdir)... Where I can look for it?
Thanks in advance

Just copy them to the ttfonts directory and run mkttfdir.

I recently bought a CD-ROM that's got 2001 Postscript and TrueType
fonts on it. (well, it WAS cheap;cost $2) I'm not sure whether the
fonts are compressed or not.
I need to know if I need font metric files (the FON type files you
see in Windows) to get them to work correctly.Or can I just copy the
#Question 1
I have the same question. Mandrake works well, and I have the ttfont
directory installed, but how do you get programs ( gimp, maxwell, staroffice
ect..) to USE the ttfonts. Also, is there a way to use the ttfonts in
windows without having to copy them to the tt directory in Mandrake

They're used automatically... If you've done an update of 5.x or RH 6, you
have to rerun Xconfigurator before you can
Okay..Mandrake works excellent for me, but I would like to be able to use the
True Type fonts that come with it. How do I do this? Also - can I use the TT
fonts from W!nd*ws?
Thanks

Does Mandrake 5.3 support True Type Fonts???
If not... is there an easy (no-brainer) way to get them
to work under Linux.
I'm mostly interested in getting them to work in Netscape
4.51 and in Corel WordPerfect but since i'm really new to
all this I have no idea where to begin.
Thanks in advance
