I compiled the .mdk package of xine 0.9.6 to play .asf files. However, it keeps saying that the audiodriver <(null)> failed. I'm not sure where to start looking for a problem. All I know is, there is no sound. XMMS and Mplayer plays with sound, though. (although mplayer plays some .asf fil

To answer my own post. Come back 8.1 - all is forgiven. Found service for rawdevices in the init scripts. Ran "/etc/rc.d/init.d/rawdevices start" and voila xine started running d4d no problem. There is also a rawdevices option under DrakConf -> System -> Services. Now to find out why only ro

Hi folks This is getting worse and worse. 8.1 is a giant step backwards from 7.2. Wherever I turn there are problems, which simply did not exist in 7.2. After the sound saga - still not resolved for xmms - I find that xine will not play DVDs because it cannot find the raw device /dev/rdvd. D

I'm trying to get dvd playback working here in mandrake 7.2. I found a version of xine that includes the css plugin for playing back decrypted dvds. It installed fine. I made /dev/hdc link to /dev/dvd and made a mount point at /mnt/dvd I can mount the dvd's and browse their file structure. Xi
