What version of KDE are you running? Kdesu in KDE 2.1.1 works fine, but it is broken in KDE 2.2 alpha 2 (I haven't tried alpha 1). Things appear to be fine in KDE 2.2 beta 1. On Mon, 16 Jul 2001 07:57, Michel Clasquin wrote: > Hmm, kdesu is no longer accepting my root password. Opening up an x

Hmm, kdesu is no longer accepting my root password. Opening up an xterm and using su - in the normal way with the same password works just fine, so I can still get root access to my apps, but I'd like to know what is causing this. -- Michel Clasquin, D Litt et Phil (Unisa) [EMAIL PROTECTED]/un

Darrylif you don't want to further explore this kdesu thing then say so, ok? The kdesu executable does not belong in /usr/share/apps. What you are seeing there is most likely a directory called /kdesu that normally contains a couple of icons. Executables belong in /bin or /sbin directorie

Darrylit should be in /usr/bin in fact when you use kpackage to install the kdesu rpm file you can look under the files tab where there's a list of all of the files that kpackage will install from the rpm file. Near or at the top of that list /usr/bin/kdesu will be listed. Alan Darryl Gibs
