With modems, it is much better to have a hardware modem (e.g. external serial/usb modem) than a so-called software modem (e.g. Winmodem) which relies on the OS to do some of its work, thus the slightly lower cost. Buy a hardware modem and all your problems will dissappear. There are really chea
