When you install it and there's an error with your Xconfig, just skip it
and terminate your installation.
DON'T QUIT, just skip!
When you'll boot for the first time, login as root and use xf86config.
Setup your configuration with your hardware. When it's done, type startx
and there you are!

The file "XF86Config" should be located in /etc/X11/. See if it's there, and if
you have read permissions to it (can't find any reason why not, but still...)
If it ain't there, you can re-create it by running one of those XF86-config
tools such as "XF86Setup" or "xf86config".
