Wow!!! Mandrake 7 is the nicest linux package I have had experience with (though the others have been only Redhat 5.0, 5.1, 5.9 and Mandrake 5.3 and 6.0 so I am no expert by any means). One big problem: I have a Toshiba Equium 6200M with built-in Crystal sound card. Mandrake 7 did a good job of

You've got funny mailheaders that pine dislikes just so you know. If you get sound as root(during sndconfig) but not as user(playing audio in kde), the most likely cause is the user is not in the audio group. Now you maybe tempted to chmod the audiodevices, _don't_ add the user to the audio grou

Yes there is, the isapnptools. But you will want to read the documentation in /usr/doc/isapnptools/*. The information there is relatively complex, so be well rested when you start. In essence what you do is run pnpdump > /etc/isaapnp.conf then edit the /etc/isapnp.conf file for your specific setup

That's the top of the ISAPNP configuration file isapnp.conf. pnpdump should be directed to output to that file (presuming this has not been done yet.) The best thing you can do is read the documentation for isapnptools in the /usr/doc/isapnptools-1.18 folder. The isapnptools are a set of utilities
