I think my problems which were similar to your own are now solved.
Please examine the following three files (/etc/mtab -fstab & lilo.conf).
You are clearly able to edit files and are aware of the hda to hdc, or
scd0 to scd1 settings. Therefore, a comparison should be fruitful.
