thanks for all your replys, it seems i may have a hardware prob, oh well first stop, a new i/o card (after checking those links) mark - there is a special version of mandrake 70-2 compiled for 486s that i downloaded from one of their mirrors, as far as i know it is the only i486 iso they do basc
