I would agree on the error messages part. It might be possible to look
at the error message if you run your own copy of shindig and render
the gadget in it.

is returned if there is a slight formatting error in a conditional
statement anywhere within the templates code. By stripping it right
down to the example shown above, it then worked, then I pasted the
tags back in, one line at
PS. This is happening on sandbox.orkut with a test application added
by xml URL. I've not tried it on our production app for obvious
reasons!
