In orkut Developer's Guide we can see:
"Your home server can use the REST API to communicate with orkut only
if orkut users are using your application, within orkut."
- What is the reason for this requirement?
- So, orkut will not allow to an external site to have the same kind
of functionality
I had a similar question. My company is planning on developing an
orkut application but on our site we want to allow users to sign in
using their orkut login and make comments etc on the blog (similar to
how facebook connect is being used by techcrunch). I'm not that

I guess you have to keep in touch with the main purpose.
e.g type racer is using user data on site from various social networking
site but they are keeping then to redirect and to let users know its only
for / to display data related to type racer application.
