I would suggest a few specs such as sound card or chipset also you might
want to check the HCL as only a few cards support spdif. I use a p35
chipset which is on an Intel dp35dp motherboard and I do not have spdif
output either. If you need sound you might have to use analog outputs.

The various Solstice Backup software (client and server) is NOT
supported on OpenSolaris. EMC (the OEM for Networker, which is sold as
Solstice Backup) does not currently support Networker on OpenSolaris -
