Just a quick note, that may or may not help you convince them.
The pop3/imap access can be enabled on a per mailbox basis. It need not be
enabled on all mailboxes. Furthermore, it can be restricted from what hosts
connections can be made.

Apache reads the files in the /etc/httpd/conf.d/ directory in alphabetical
order. So it reads otrs.conf before perl.conf. Rename perl.conf to
0-perl.conf to make sure perl libraries are loaded before it reads
otrs.conf.

I have enabled the customer company option. Does anyone know if there is a
toggle so that the CustomerID/Company is not required or better that it will
default to the loginID as it did prior to enabling the customer company
