I was in Ecuador in September. Part of the time was spent on a several-day
guided drive along the Andes range, and one day that included a drive up the
flanks of Chimborazo to about 15,800 feet, location of a climbers refuge and a
monument to lost climbers. On the way back down we stopped at another refuge to
eat our lunch; it happened that that location was the start/finish for a 49.1k
trail-running Sky Race then in progress. We had seen some of the runners during
our drive up and back…

According to the website, the roughly 30 mile race route started at 12,470ft,
rose to 15,950ft, with a total
elevation rise/fall of about 7,900ft, and was expected to take between 8 and 15
hours to
finish. Not a sport for the weak.

At least your track is closer to sea level!

Oh yeah I forgot you guys call them trails. It was slow going, more of a
jog/walk, but not really technical.
