We went out searching for dark skies, found some a bit over an hour from here. I used the opportunity to try out the type 3 astrotracer in my K-3 III, and see how it compares with the GPS based astrotracer in the K-1. The answer is much better. Unfortunately the exif data doesn't seem to mention what type of astrotracer was used. Also, it insists on doing a test shot for every frame, even if nothing else moves.
