The NAS is "practice" for getting this stuff off-site altogether. I have
nightmares about losing all the work and time I've put into my photographic
work. I currently have a 2 stage, nightly backup. One copy to a portable
drive that I take with me on vacations and a second to the NAS.

The problem is that the final protocol standards have not been cast in

Vista forward. (Well technically I've seen Vista & & referenced but have no
reason to believe that 8 isn't also affected.) I suggest a little search using

offer it as an option), but that doesn't mean the drive itself can read

DVD reader alignment is much more critical than for CD readers...which
is part of why they can put so much more data on a DVD than

From experience, I would place my bet on the drive not reading the Win7
disc (for whatever reason) is your problem. They mass produce those
drives and you aren't going to get a lot of "robust performance" from an

I would guess you have a bad DVD/CD drive. Try replacing it...even if
you have to "borrow" one from another system. Booting from the optical
drive is a BIOS thing, not OS. Even if your CD/DVD disc were bad, you'd
get an error saying so when it tried to boot from the optical drive.

Nope - its worse!
I cleaned the HD using KillDisk - as suggested here - but, now - even
though I have BIOS Set to boot from CD - it keeps trying to boot from
the SSD HD - and claims Disk Boot Failure! This is KILLING Me - and is
turning out to be a Totally PITA!

Some of you may remember I posted recently about trying to revive a Dead
PC of mine using an older Win XP Pro 64 OS install - that I was missing
the Prod. Key for.
Well - long story short - kinda - I found my Win2K install CD - and I
installed Win2K on that PC - so it was relative
