I know at Enthought, we considered the benefits of the former PyTables Pro
(now v2.3) worth the current beta status. Putting my PyTables hat on, it
still is beta so if you include it in your distribution, be prepared to
update ;).

Thanks, I'm glad to be able to use the pytables repository. It was
just the cython executable. I hadn't set the path properly in my test
build. I haven't been able to get rid of the warning about the hdf5
runtime--I appear to only have .a's and .dylib's. For future reference
