Had a look at your *.prj files and they indicate your shapefiles have geographic coordinates. If you want to make metric calculations - and a buffer is something like that - you should better define your shapefile with a projected coordinate system (e. g. Gauss-Krüger or UTM) and choose a projectio

Hi, I created new shapefile layers (point, line and polygon) with qgis and tried to create buffers around, but it does not work properly -> the buffer is much to large, I want to create a buffer with e.g. 40 m and then the buffer is much bigger. Since buffering works fine with other shapefiles
