What is missing is branching rules and WeightRings. For ease of comparison with the old code, this does not eliminate the old class but creates a new one called AltWeylCharacterRing. If this gets working right we can eliminate the old file (before merging into sage-main) but for testing purposes it seems good to have them working side-by-side at this. Nicolas, does this patch satisfy your desire to use categories and CombinatorialFreeModule? If so I will finish the patch and make a trac ticket.
