Cut half of the angle off and adjust the insertion depth. Hell, you can
cut it all off. It won't hurt. This is a really common, simple job.
Don't make it more difficult. What's the worst that could happen? You
don't like a free shaft? Toss it.

get it from Radio Shack. It will shrink with a common
wooden match. Or a heat gun, or with care, a torch.
Size? bigger than the tip diameter. When to install?

a SE 655TJ (.335). It's a Graphite Design YS-6, so I think it should be
