I am probably the smallest of the small but working
hard to grow. I didn't go into this thinking about how
to make a profit but rather how to cut my losses. I
have my own stuff that is on it's way to market so in
the mean time I am selling things made by others and
using the profits to help develo
Oh my! You've asked one heck of a question.
The simple answer is: No. You can not make it in the model business. So many
people try and fail that it's depressing.
Of the few that do "make it", most are able to live with a ridiculously low
income and/or have additional income(s).

Easy...
All you have to do is start out with 80K-100K a year...

Straight back is probably best, with two possible exceptions. If you are
having trouble seeing the plane, or controlling its pitch attitude, you
may see this better if you come back at a bit of an angle. As long as
the angle is not very large you won't lose all that much. Also, lift may
be easier

I bet my buddy Marc Gellart was thinking the same thing at the CSS Memorial
with his NYX...

Heck, they are all there now. Have fun. The files are big, but the
initial displays (thumbnails) are network friendly.

Well most of you don't know that it was my boneheaded stunt at the Mid-South
that started this thread. I lost a Psyko LT in the Georgia Jungle by
getting way too far downwind. All the posts up to this point have all had
good thoughts but when you lose a contest proven ship you tend to reflect
Gavin really is not 100% right. Sailboats do not develop lift off their
sails! Ok..technically they do, but the lift is in the wrong direction.
Sailboats develop lift by their keels/centerboards. That pulls them to
"weather". The sails develop thrust. The sailboat is always slipping at a

No tacking for gliders. Go straight and if you are looking for a
sailing analogy try to find some lift on your way upwind.
BTW, Some of the highest performance sailboats do have solid wings
(with flaps and trim tabs, check out C-class Catamarans) but still
need to tack upwind, afterall you nee
The prompt results are thanks to Richard Ware. Richard has spent the
past two years working on a total solutions style of database for
sailplane contests. It does all of the scheduling, random matrix

Hi Mike
If this is the one that is 36" wingspan and set up for like a .049 it is worth at
least $50 on Ebay. I know because I sold 2 of
these kits one for $50 and the other for $70. If it is sealed in plastic HOLD ON TO

Thanks Marcela and Dieter
I made another one of your pic pages and it is a great one! I downloaded to my
own personal pics since it is with my very
favorite tow pilot and good friend Denny!!! He is a NATURAL tow pilot and such a great
guy to fly with. Thanks Marcela for making my
day!!
According to the FAA I can fly my 2150 pound Piper in many airspaces
without radio transmission, control tower intervention, or even the
common courtesy of a traffic pattern.
They "suggest" radio communications on unicom frequencies near
uncontrolled fields. Not required and many pilots don
