Title: More info on the electric motor/esc issue
I’ve run all the endpoints to the max, I’ve put the trim at its lowest position. If I use a 4.8v battery with a servo in the throttle channel, it works fine. I’ve emailed Mike at Kontronics for a copy of the instructions so maybe that will he

Robert,
I use Dow Corning # 748 Non- corrosive sealant,
Application :
Sealing corrosive - sensitive electrical & electronic equipment.
Available from Mc Master - Carr.
Cures out completely and really sticks the servo well - yet
still removable without damage to the wing .

Title: Electric motor and speed control help
I purchased a used Aveox 12LMR with a Kontronics 3SL 70-6-18 ESC pre-wired from someone on this list. To that I've added a Medusa battery eliminator. I was told the motor and esc have only been used a couple of times and I feel confident the unit

Would anyone have an accurate measurement? I don't have a precise way of

The reason I used Silicone II is that it does not release acetic acid when
it cures. However it does not seem to cure for me. I remember reading here
that the Silicone II was ok for servos. Anyone have a solution for the
problem I'm encountering? I now know not to do what I did, but I did i
Don't forget to keep the total antenna length about the same as the
original receiver antenna length, don't loop back surplus wire (just
zig/zag it in the wing if its too long) and be careful of any connector
you put in the antenna lead -- unlike other connections you'll never

There is a silicone made specifically for electrical components.
Unfortunately, it's hard to find and expensive for a small amount. RS used

it smells like vinegar, it will cause corrosion in electrical applications.

I think it is a big mistake using silicone.
One there is no way to decontaminate it short of sanding to the layer
past it. But as you sand it pushes it down so you have to change paper
frequently and vacuum it out.
Two ... it doesn't get along with electrical components.

No idea why it didn't cure. But, when the silicon dies cure it emits an acid
as part of the process. These acid fumes eat away copper.
I found this out when I mounted a servo with silicon and it soon there after
died in flight and the plane crashed.
