Jeremy,

I can't resist replying to your question on an electric glider for a couple
of reasons. One, I am putting on a one design hand launch contest this
February and have always been cranked up over the idea of a one design
contest. The other reason is to invite you to check out my Big Bird or 2M
Lil Bird. You can learn about them on my website. The Big Bird has the
electric installation drawn on the CAD plans and comes with a ply wood fuse
bottom battery hatch. Both kits are all laser cut and feature tab/slot
fuse construction and this means you can almost build the fuse in your lap.

The Big Bird is 100' span, a cheap Speed 600 works for moderate climb angle
and the kit includes a drawing by Jack Hamilton for installing an Astro
Flight 608G for LMR contest work. Some of the guys have started to install
05 motors in the 2m Lil Bird.

I have flown a Big Bird with a cheap Master Airscrew geared 05 on a 12"
prop. I won an all up last down contest with it performing a 1 hour flight
and the notable point is the contest didn't start until 6:30 PM. It is an
very good performing airplane and builds easily. See construction photos
on my site in the "Assembly Tips" page.

Enjoy,

Ray
