Well more like I got killed.

I got to Bloomington Indiana to fly the New Years Day Contest as usual.  and
as usual it was cold and snowing.  There were about 15 die hard sailplaners
present ..and the winch was set up.

The snow was light and the ceiling pretty high. One task is Longest Flight of
the New Year, which I have won the last two years but this year I got DUCKED
by Johnny Berlin and his old trusty 2m Duck.  I got almost 8 minutes and he
got 26+ !!

Getting time was not a problem ,and the Chili was excellent due to Johnny's
donation of Venison for the mix.

I ended up with a perfect score for the day and so did contest director Brent
(the Vacuum) Hoover.  So we had a fly off.  Max 5:30min.  We launched but the
winch was dead, so we relit with a new battery.

He got 4 something.  I was up and cruising with over 2:30 under my belt when
I suffered a RX xtal problem  ( it fell out of the RX!) and I landed off
field.... It wasn't my day to win it... so while I got wood, its another also
ran :-(  and $5 cash prize :-)

Thanks to all who flew and did work to put it together...this makes it over
20 years for this contest.

Sucks to be you relatively local guys who sat home and stared at the boob
tube:)
