First sailplane was a Graupner Dandy, while stationed in Germany in the 70s.  Dave Shadel ( a name some may recall) and I both learned RC on that bird, and flew it until it wouldn't accept any more repairs.  It was a sight to behold, with great globs of Hobbypoxy and strips of pantyhose hold
