Actually, this works well below best glide airspeed, but above that and it's easier to do the opposite. For example, an ILS flown at 80 kts is easier to maintain the glideslope with power and maintain speed with elevator. Fly the same approach at 130 knots and elevator controls the slope and p

This answer was the one that I've latched on to - but, thanks for all the responses!! The information that the list provided was very helpful. Brent ps - I had someone remind me that 'giving up' in a term had at least 2 meanings - I think the 'wrong' meaning makes for funnier responses. >
