The train is called "The Vermonter." It looks like there is only 1 train running each evening out of Essex Junction, but that is within hiking distance of the convention. One of its stops is Hartford, Connecticut where Southwest Airlines has a cheap flight of only $ 114 each way to Texas. But the train ticket is $ 48 each way. Amtrak's web-site is a pain. A cheaper route is available, if anybody is interested, but it is 77 miles from the train station to the airport. If you do take the Vermonter, try promotion code, "V683."
